We assume that Google Analytics isn’t present on your WordPress website. The next steps would be basd on this very assumption.
Let’s get started with the step by step process on how to Install Google Analytics on WordPress website using Monsterinsights Plugin without doing any kind of coding (this is the best part that non-tech savvy guys like)
First of all you need to sign into your Google account.
Go to Google, type Google Analytics and once you are on the Google Analytics website you need to click on Start for free or “Sign in to Analytics”. You can refer to the below given screenshot.
Pre-requisite for Step 3
You need to have a Gmail account in place so as to sign-in to Google Analytics. If you have an existing Google account proceed to step 3. If you don’t, then you need to create a Gmail account. In today’s date most of us have a Gmail account but if you are amongst those users who use a yahoo or Hotmail account then you need to get a Gmail account.
We assume by now you have a Gmail account. Let’s proceed to Step 3
In this step you have to ensure that you are logged in to your Gmail account. As shown in the second step click on “Set up for Free” or whatver is the relevant option that you see to sign up or Get Started.
Once you click on “Set up for Free” you will get a screen similar to the one shown below wherein you will be asked to enter your Account Name.
You can add your Project name over here or anything you like (Make sure its something that makes sense). Keep the rest of the check boxes checked only.
Once you enter your Account Name click on Next (Remember keep these boxes checked (Recommended).
Once you click on Next you will come across a screen similar to this one.
If you notice the above screenshot you will notice that we have highlighted the text related to Google Analytics 4 Property. This has been recently introduced by Google. You can read more about Google Analytics 4 Property from this link
If you aren’t comfortable using Google Analytics 4 you can also setup Universal Analytics.
Once you have decided which type of property you want to go ahead with. Choose whichever you prefer. For the sake of this tutorial we are planning to go ahead with the Universal Analytics option (if you want to try out Google Analytics 4 property option feel free to do so).
As we said above for the sake of this tutorial we are planning to go ahead with the Universal Analytics option. To get that option you will have to click on the “Show Advanced Options” as highlighted in the above screenshot.
Once you click on “Show Advanced Options” you will get a screen similar to the one shown below
Depending on your requirement you can choose one option from the two options shown in the above screenshot. Make sure to toggle the switch as shown in the above image on the right hand side
Once you choose your preferred option, click on Next as shown in the above image.
Once you click on the Next button you will come across the below given screen.
As shown in the above screenshot you will have to choose your Industry from the Drop down, your company size and the metrics which you want to make use of – Select the checkboxes which are relevant as per your requirements.
Once you are done with the above process then click on the Create button as shown in the above screenshot. Once you click on the Create button you will come across Google’s Terms dialog box. Kindly accept the terms once you are done reading all the terms and conditions stated.
Once you have accepted the Terms and conditions you will come across the Tracking ID Screen as shown in the below screenshot if you have chosen Universal Analytics and not Google Analytics 4 Property.
Thus we are done with the initial setup of Google Analytics and we will go to the second part which is installing Google Analytics on WordPress website using the Monsterinsights plugin
Let’s get started with the next set of steps. There are two ways you can install Monsterinsights.
1. By going to their official website and downloading the Plugin and Installing & Activating the plugin
2. Going to the WordPress Dashboard and installing & Activating it from the plugins section.
For the sake of this tutorial we are going to go ahead with the second option.
Step 1: Navigate to your wordpress Dashboard and choose the Plugins Section.
Step 2: Now when in Plugins click on Add New .
Once you click on “Add New” you will come across a screen similar to the one shown below
Step 3: In case you are wondering which plugin should you install (as shown from the above image) you are supposed to the Install the one on the left hand side. Click on “Install Now”
Step 4: Once you have installed the plugin you will have to “Activate” the plugin
Once you activate the plugin you will come across a screen as shown below
Step 5: Click on “Connect Monsterinsights and Setup Website Analysis”
Step 6: Once you click on “Connect Monsterinsights and Setup Website Analysis” you will be redirected to the Monsterinsights Setup wizard. Let’s go step by step.
Once you click on Save and Continue you will see the option of “Connect Monsterinsights with WordPress” (refer to the screenshot below)
Once you click on “Connect Monsterinsights” as shown in the above screenshot you will be redirected to authenticating your Google Account. In this step you will be giving access to Monsterinsights. (Refer to the screenshot below)
You can choose your Gmail account. Once you select your Gmail account you will get a screen similar to the one shown below wherein you will give access to Monsterinsights
Click on Allow in order to grant access to Monsterinsights. When you click on Allow you will come across a screen like the one shown below
Once you click on “Complete Connection” you will come across a screen as shown below stating that you have connected Monsterinsights
Post this we will go ahead and do the Setup Wizard for Monsterinsights, you can check the recommended settings.
Step 1 of the Monsterinsights Configuration Process. Now you can choose one of these options – Which category best describes your website?
Once you have chosen a suitable category as per our requirement then you can click on “Save and Continue”
Once you click on “Save and Continue” you will come across a screen as shown in the below screenshot.
Once you are done with the intermediate steps you will come across the screenshot as shown below. This is about the Recommended settings.
Some of the default settings are – Events Tracking, Enhanced Link Attribution
Some of the default file types that are included in the File Download Tracking are – doc, pdf, ppt, zip, xls, docx, pptx, xlsx
You can also get great features like Affiliate Link Tracking (Affiliate Marketers love this feature!!). By default there are two options given you can add more Affiliate link
You can also assign User roles on who can have access to Monsterinsights reports (Admin, Editor)
Besides this you also get Instant Updates Automatically – you just need to enable this in case you wish to get Instant updates automatically.

Once you have chosen the preferred settings you can go ahead and click on “Save and Continue”
Once you click on “Save and Continue” you will come across the screenshot as shown below which consists of Some of the recommended Add-ons by Monsterinsights.
Important Note: In order to make use of this feature you will have to upgrade to Monsterinsights PRO version.
Once you have upgraded to the PRO version of Monsterinsights you can click on “Save and Continue”.
Once you have clicked on “Save and Continue” you will come across a screen like this.
Finally we are done with all the Setup process of Installing Google Analytics on WordPress website Using Monsterinsights Plugin.
Click on Finish Setup & Exit Wizard and you are all set to analyze your WordPress website data with Monsterinsights.
Important Note: Kindly take a note that it will take between a few hours to 24 hours for the data to reflect in Google Analytics.
